Game Preview
A weekend of high-quality Premier League action is set for this first round back following the November international break. All eyes will be on the top of the standings on Saturday afternoon, as Man City bid to move within a point of Arsenal at the summit.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been in excellent recent form, winning four of their last five. Meanwhile, no team in the competition have scored more goals than City so far this term. However, the former champions have endured issues on the road this season, winning just two of their five matches, and recording a shot conversion of just 12%.
Newcastle will come into this round hopeful of a return to form, as they have dropped to 14th in the standings after losing three of their last four. Defeat against Brentford in the previous round of matches means that they are just two points clear of the relegation zone.
However, being back in front of their home fans is a big benefit. All three of Newcastle’s wins this season have been recorded at St. James’ Park. Meanwhile, eight of their eleven Premier League goals have been scored in home fixtures. Despite this, they have conceded a lofty xGA of 1.34 per game, which is a concern against an attack-minded City.
Newcastle vs. Man City Picks
This could be a high-quality showdown with lots of goals on Saturday. Newcastle’s better form has come in home matches, but they could yet come unstuck against a Man City side that are only just finding their groove in 2025-26.
