Match Preview

Leicester City have bounced back from their relegation to the second tier last term in fine fashion in 2023-24. The Foxes boast a healthy advantage at the top of the standings in the Championship, as they currently sit seven points clear of Ipswich Town.

Leicester famously won the FA Cup for the first time in 2021, but their downward spiral began at the start of the following season. The Foxes produced an excellent display in the third round of the competition at the start of the month, landing a 3-2 away success at Millwall. The eventual match-clinching goal was netted by Tom Cannon with just under half an hour remaining.

It has been all change at Birmingham City over the last few weeks, as the American owners called time on Wayne Rooney’s short stay at the club. The decision was made to appoint experienced Championship coach Tony Mowbray, who led Sunderland to the Championship playoffs last term.

Birmingham’s form has picked up since his arrival, as they have gone four without defeat across all competitions. The Blues secured a famous win in the third round of the FA Cup after a replay against Hull City, with Koji Miyoshi netting a dramatic 93rd minute winner to set up this tie against the Foxes on Saturday.

Leicester vs Birmingham City Prediction

Leicester have bossed the recent encounters between these sides, winning each of the last four. That includes a 1-0 success in the FA Cup in March 2020. Despite making a bright start to life at Birmingham, we expect Mowbray’s side to crash out this weekend.
