Game Preview
The Machine, as the fans call them, accelerated over the last few weeks, having three wins in a row, and not losing in the past 18 consecutive matches. Apart from Liga MX, they are pushing well in the CONCACAF Champions League too, and are high on morale.
Cruz Azul has won in the last 7 games at home and has 10 wins in the previous 11 events, with one tie. In all but two victories, Vicente Sanchez’s unit has scored at least twice.
On the other hand, Club America eliminated Pachuca in the quarterfinals. After a goalless tie on the road, the Eagles defeated the rivals, 2-0. Alejandro Zendejans scored a brace early on, sealing the victory for his unit.
Club America’s defense has been very good lately, keeping clean sheets in 4 of the previous five meetings. One of them was vs. Cruz Azul, but overall, they have a negative head-to-head score against this rival. More about that in the following paragraph.
