Match Preview
Arsenal’s dreams of a first Premier League title in over 20 years already look to be hanging by a thread. The Gunners have dropped to fifth in the standings after failing to win their last three in the league, while they have suffered two defeats over that period.
Chelsea have shown progression under Enzo Maresca already this term, and the fact that they come into this showdown against the Gunners above their rivals in the standings is a slight surprise. The Blues have lost just once across their last five.
However, the Blues have a poor record against the Gunners in recent years, having won just once in the last nine meetings. Their latest success was achieved back in August 2021 at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have won three of their last four away matches against Chelsea, and they have remained unbeaten across that period. The Gunners have excelled in London derbies in general after winning their last six.
Chelsea’s defensive home record would be a slight concern. The Blues have conceded at least once in each of their last six at Stamford Bridge. It is their longest wait for a home clean sheet since the 2011-12 season.
Arsenal’s last two defeats have been suffered in the road, failing to score in matches against Bournemouth and Newcastle. The Gunners haven’t lost three in succession on the road since December 2021, while they haven’t lost three on the bounce without scoring since 1994.
Chelsea vs. Arsenal Picks
Martin Odegaard made his return from injury in midweek, and that could be a vitally important factor for the Gunners. However, Chelsea’s attacking threat means that a draw could be an interesting betting angle.
