Match Preview

Mauricio Pochettino was irate with his side last weekend, as they fell to a 4-1 defeat against Newcastle United away from home. All the good work that the Blues had shown in a win over Tottenham and a draw against Man City was undone, and the loss means that they have now won just once in their previous five matches.

Brighton will be the visitors to Stamford Bridge this weekend, and their confidence will be high after bouncing back to winning ways at the City Ground last Saturday. Joao Pedro was the star for the Seagulls, as the Brazilian netted twice in a 3-2 success on the road against Nottingham Forest to end their winless run.

Chelsea had won ten of their first eleven league matches against the Seagulls, but the recent record between these sides could be damning to their chances. Brighton are now unbeaten in their last five against the Blues, which includes victories in each of the previous two matches last term.

There is likely to be goals in this fixture on Sunday, as Brighton are one of just four sides that are yet to keep a clean sheet this term. Meanwhile, Chelsea have conceded four goals in each of their last two matches in the Premier League. The Blues have now conceded 20 goals this term, which marks the second time that they have allowed that many at this stage of a Premier League campaign.

Chelsea vs Brighton Prediction

The odds could be slightly wrong this weekend, as Chelsea at odds-on isn’t a selection that many will be keen to take. Brighton’s recent record against the Blues makes them an interesting selection, but the better play could be on the draw this weekend.
