Game Preview
Germany hasn’t lost since the EURO back in July 2024. After that, they had eight matches, winning five and posting three ties. In five of them, Nagelsmann’s team managed to score at least twice, though the defense wasn’t very effective.
Apart from clean sheets against Netherlands and Bosnia and Herzegovina at home, Die Mannschaft conceded in all other events. This has been a long-standing issue for this unit. Another problem now is the absence of their playmaker, Jamal Musiala.
Portugal’s recent results have been mixed, with just one win in the last three games. It was against Denmark in the most recent event, with the Selecao winning 3-2 after 90 minutes, yet they had to go through extra time to eliminate the Danes following a 1-0 loss on the road. In the end, Portugal won 5-2.
Ronaldo and the boys don’t perform well outside their country, having posted only one win in their past five trips. It was in Poland, 1-3. Other than that, they lost in Georgia and Denmark while recording ties in Croatia and Scotland.
Germany vs. Portugal Head to Head
Germany has five consecutive victories over Portugal all of them in official matches. And the Germans have scored twice in each but one event during this span. The most recent was in 2021 at the EURO, 4-2.
Germany vs. Portugal Predictions
Musiala’s absence will be a significant blow to Germany, but we still expect them to win this one. Portugal’s struggles on the road are just too big, and this is an excellent chance for the hosts to reach the finals.
