Game Preview

Mauricio Pochettino has just four more fixtures to fine-tune his squad ahead of the USA’s World Cup opener in mid-June. The March international break is expected to be crucial with high profile clashes with Belgium and Portugal set.

Pochettino will take plenty of confidence from his team’s recent results, winning four of their last five, which includes victories in each of the last three. A standout win came during the November international break, as the U.S. recorded an eye-catching 5-1 win over Uruguay.

Christian Pulisic is expected to star on Saturday, as the AC Milan forward bids to add to his tally of 32 international goals.

Belgium finished third in the 2018 World Cup, but there is somewhat of a transitional feel surrounding their squad, with experienced internationals such as Vincent Kompany having since retired. Members of their golden generation remain, and Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku are both expected to start in Texas.

Rudi Garcia’s team have been in reliable form over the last 12 months, winning five of their internationals and avoiding defeat in their previous eight since a shock loss against Ukraine last March.

Offensive players have sparkled for Belgium, with the national team scoring 12 goals in their last three matches.

USA vs. Belgium Picks

This will be a good test for the USA on Saturday. They could pass the test with flying colors due to their energy in the middle of the park against an aging European rival that aren’t expected to reach previous highs in the World Cup this summer.
