La Vuelta Preview
Primoz Roglič, the undisputed king of this Tour, will skip this year’s edition. The Slovenian cyclist decided to rest and relinquish the throne he won in 2024. Roglič has 4 La Vuelta titles, which makes him the most decorated player alongside Roberto Heras.
His countryman, Tadej Pogačar, won’t be present either, which opens the door for other riders to win this prestigious race.
According to cycling odds, Jonas Vingegaard is the absolute favorite to win La Vuelta. The Dane ended second at the Tour de France and is eager to finally take the top spot. All the sportsbooks see Vingegaard as the easy pick, but there are other riders who want to disrupt the picture.
Joao Almeida and Juan Ayuso, for example. Not only do the two guys know the terrain, but both will have huge support from the crowd. After all, they are both from nearby, which will give them a tremendous motive.
Ciccone? Darkhorse?
The Italian is the rising force when it comes to beating uphill terrains and mountains. And this year’s La Vuelta will have plenty of mountain stages, which could open the door for Ciccone to an upset. He is currently at +2200 to win the general classification, which most definitely calls for a small-stakes longshot try.
