Match Preview
Novak Djokovic might be fooling us all along. The way he played against Carlos Alcaraz shows that the 37-year-old Serb still has what it takes to compete with much younger players than him and that his physical level is still unreal.
After 3 hours and 35 minutes, he beat Carlitos 3-1, erasing the deficit after the opening set and rebuffing the surge from the other side. This is the 12th semis for Novak in Australia, where he has won 10 of the 24 Grand Slam titles. He previously beat Basaverddy, Faria, Machac, and Lehecka.
As for Zverev, his path here hasn’t been that tough. Apart from Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals, all of his rivals were mediocre: Lucas Pouille in the opening round, Pablo Martinez, Jacob Fearnley, and Ugo Humbert.
The German had only seven aces with 69% of the first serve against Paul, yet he won more or less easily. His mental power has been improved greatly, and we’ve seen that through two tiebreaks won in this event.
Novak Djokovic vs. Alexander Zverev Head-to-Head
Novak and Sasha have met 12 times so far, and the result is 8-4 for Djokovic. Their previous contest was in September 2023, in Cincinnati, where Novak routinely beat Zverev 3-0.
Novak Djokovic vs. Alexander Zverev Prediction
Novak has problems with his groin injury and his first serve, but we don’t believe that’s going to stop him here. Still, in order to pick the safest bet possible, we are going to choose tiebreak in a match. Zverev often plays tiebreaks, and we believe one will definitely happen here.
