Game Preview
Novak Djokovic is in the quarterfinals after relatively easy wins in the first four rounds. He did start the campaign slightly slower than expected, but that’s his usual pattern here in Australia. After dropping a set against Basavareddy and Faria, he significantly accelerated.
He would first trash Tomas Machac in straight sets and then Jiri Lehecka. That’s quite impressive, knowing that these guys are seeded players in Melbourne.
Carlos Alcaraz is even more confident. Carlitos has lost just one set in Australia. It was in the third round against Nuno Borges and in a tiebreak. But his response was ruthless, 6-2 in the closing set.
Alcaraz was better than Shevchenko, Nishioka, and Jack Draper in other events. The fourth round was against Draper, who forfeited following the second set due to an injury. Alcaraz led 2-0 in those moments.
Novak Djokovic vs. Calros Alcaraz Head-to-Head
Novak leads 4-3 against Carlitos. The previous battle between these two was at the Olympic Games in Paris, when Djokovic beat Carlos 2-0 in the finals. Though, Alcaraz was better in the Wimbledon finals, 3-0.
Novak Djokovic vs. Carlos Alcaraz Prediction
Australian Open tennis odds favor Alcaraz, and honestly, that’s realistic. Novak played well in these four rounds, but he is 37 years old. Of course, age doesn’t have to mean anything, but here, we have to pick Alcaraz to win. He looks more aggressive, and his overall performance has been very confident. Also, unlike Novak, he didn’t oscillate at all.
