Match Preview
Zverev didn’t play too much against Griekspoor because the Dutchman retired in the second set, being a set down and three games in the second sequence. All in all, the match lasted 54 minutes.
The German was solid on the clay this year, and has 12 wins and 3 losses in the past 15 events. His victims in Paris were Tien, De Jong, and Coboli, and may we add that he didn’t have too hard rivals so far. In general, all of his victories on clay this year were against players of a middle-class level.
We need to be honest and say the same for Novak. He was eliminated in the opening rounds in Monaco and Madrid, and despite winning the Geneva tournament, he wasn’t particularly impressive.
Djokovic’s path to the quarterfinals included McDonald, Moutet, Misolic, and Cameron Norrie, with the Serb winning all events in straight sets and without any particular trouble.
Zverev vs. Djokovic Head to Head
Djokovic lost three of the last four matches against Zvereve, including the one in the World Tennis League. He withdrew during the semis in Australia this year due to an injury. Overall, these two played 13 times, and Novak leads for the moment, 8-5.
