Match Preview
Tiafoe is without a lost set at this Roland Garros. His victims were Roman Safiulin, Pablo Carreno-Busta, and Sebastian Korda, and we need to say that the American really looked well in each contest.
Against Korda, Tiafoe had to go through a tough first set, ultimately winning 8-6 in a tiebreak. After that, it was way easier for Frances, who had just 52% of the first serve. Also, Tiafoe had 89% of the points won on the net.
Altmaier set the tone in his first appearance in Paris, beating Taylor Fritz 3-1. It was the biggest sensation of the day, with him being the total underdog against the No.4 seed here.
After that, Altmaier eliminated Kopriva in the second round with the same result, and then Serbian hope Hamad Medjedovic also with 3-1. The German lost the first set 4-6, yet stormed his way back to win three in a row, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
Tiafoe vs. Altmaier Head to Head
Tiafoe has an edge in H2H against Altmaier beating him twice. It was at the Australian Open two years ago, 1-3, and in Rome also in 2023, 1-2.
Tiafoe vs. Altmaier Predictions
Tiafoe looks great, and with all due respect to Altmaier, he will win this one. Sure, Frances may have had easier rivals, but overall, after watching him against Korda, we believe he is better right now than the upcoming rival.
