Match Preview
This has all the makings of an interesting semi-final at Roland Garros on Thursday. Despite the difference in seeding, the betting shows that it should be a close affair. Aryna Sabalenka was a player that we gave little chance to at the start of the tournament, but she has shown excellent pedigree on the clay surface throughout the event in Paris this year.
The Belarusian has already achieved her best showing at the French Open, and the 25-year-old comes into this semi-final showdown having failed to drop a set on her way to this stage. She was in second gear for much of her quarterfinal showdown against Elina Svitolina on Tuesday, eventually winning 6-4, 6-4. It was interesting how dominant she was on her second serve in that match, winning a staggering 82% of the points.

Karolina Muchova stands in Sabalenka’s way of achieving a second straight appearance in a Grand Slam final. The Czech caused a shock in the opening round, as he eliminated eighth-seed Maria Sakkari in straight sets, and she has dropped just one set on her way to this stage.
The 26-year-old was consistent in her quarterfinal showdown on Tuesday, winning in straight sets against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Muchova won 70% of the points on her first serve, and converted on five from eleven break point opportunities. Muchova does have previous form in Grand Slam events, reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open in 2021, and the quarterfinals on two occasions at Wimbledon.
French Open Predictions
This is a really interesting showdown between the two stars. They have never previously clashed on the clay, but Sabalenka was a 7-5, 7-6 winner in the only meeting between the two in 2019. The Belarusian looks like a woman on a mission at Roland Garros, and we could see her edging out her rival 2-1 in sets.
