Our pre-tournament pick to win the women’s French Open competes in her second-round showdown on Thursday, as Elena Rybakina clashes with Linda Noskova. Rybakina kicked off her French Open campaign in commanding fashion on Tuesday, as she landed a straight sets victory over Brenda Fruhvirtova.

Linda Noskova presents a slightly different challenge this weekend, as the 18-year-old easily brushed aside Danka Kovinic in the opening round. The big-serving Czech player could ask questions of the fourth-seed, but we fully expect Rybakina to come through this test in a commanding style.

American star Lauren Davis will play her second-round clash on Thursday, as the 29-year-old comes up against Lesia Tsurenko. Davis easily made it through to the second round after seeing off Zhu Lin in straight sets. However, this is only the second time in ten attempts that she has made it through to the second round.

Lesia Tsurenko is a player that we always like betting in the Grand Slam tournaments, as she is capable of big performances against seeded players. That was evident in the previous round, as she eliminated 13^th seed Barbora Krejcikova. That was an excellent performance, and we expect her to continue that form by reaching the third round for the second time since 2019.

Alexander Zverev vs Alex Molcan

The final match to start on Thursday will be Alexander Zverev’s second-round showdown against Alex Molcan. Zverev has dropped down the world rankings following his injury issues, but he marked his return to Roland Garros with a straight-sets victory over Lloyd Harris earlier this week. The world number two will be challenging to beat on Thursday after reaching the semi-finals in each of the previous two editions.

However, Molcan could have an excellent chance of upsetting the odds after coming through in fine style against Hugo Gaston on Tuesday. This already highlights a career-best run at the French Open, and we expect him to be competitive on Thursday, before eventually falling short.
