Aryna Sabalenka

Preview

I was pretty downbeat about Aryna Sabalenka’s chances at the French Open before the tournament got underway, but she has been in career-best form on the clay throughout the event. She was dominant in her fourth-round clash on Sunday afternoon, as she breezed through a tricky-looking test on paper against Sloane Stephens in straight sets.

However, the Belarusian faces another tough test against Elina Svitolina on Wednesday. The Ukrainian has been back to her very best in France, and will be competing in her fourth French Open quarterfinal, and her tenth Grand Slam last eight showdown overall. She has dropped just one set on her way to this point, and was in stunning form to knockout ninth-seed Daria Kasatkina in the previous round. We are hoping the fairytale run continues.

Novak Djokovic vs Karen Khachanov

Karen Khachanov

Preview

The first of the two men’s quarterfinals on Tuesday will see Novak Djokovic take on Karen Khachanov. Strangely, the Serbian has been going under the radar slightly in the tournament to this point, as he is yet to drop a set in four previous outings. He eased through to the last eight with a dominant showing against unseeded Juan Pablo Varillas on Sunday.

Khachanov certainly presents the biggest test to date for the Serbian, as the Russian has eased through the early rounds of the competition. In the previous round, he landed a 3-1 success over Lorenzo Sonego, and he could be on course for a third consecutive appearance in a Grand Slam semi-final. However, we will be siding with Djokovic’s dominant run to continue.

Preview

The standout game on the day will come under the lights at Roland Garros, as Carlos Alcaraz looks to continue on his collision course for a last four showdown with Djokovic. The Spanish star has dropped just one set to this point, and he has looked incredibly strong in the previous two rounds with straight set wins over Denis Shapovalov and Lorenzo Musetti.

Tsitsipas certainly presents the biggest test to date for Alcaraz, as the Greek star looks to reach a second French Open semi-final in four years. He was previously beaten in the final by Djokovic in 2021. Tsitsipas looked in incredible form over the weekend, as he cruised to a straight sets win over Sebastian Ofner. We could see this being a five-set thriller between the stars, with Alcaraz eventually making it through to the last four.

Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-2
