Mayar Sherif will be competing in the second round of the French Open for the first time in her career this week, but she boasts a higher win-rate on the clay than any other surface. The 29-year-old previously reached the quarterfinals at the Slam in 2017, but she has failed to make it past the second round in three of the previous four editions. Garcia struggled for long periods in the opening round, eventually coming through against Wang Xiyu in the third set.

Blinkova landed a 2-1 win in the second-round clash between the two in 2019, and she looked very strong in the opening round, seeing off Ysaline Bonaventure in straight sets.
