Game Preview
Ruud beat Francisco Cerundolo in the semifinals this Friday, 6-4, 7-5. He had a respectable path to the finals, eliminating Rinderknech, Sebastian Korda, Taylor Fritz and Daniil Medvedev, all in straight sets.
Sure, he did have three 7-5 set wins, but when we look at the names (even though they aren’t great clay players), you must respect his success. His form is slowly getting up, with him reaching the finals after the quarterfinals in Barcelona and round 3 in Monte Carlo.
Draper plays magnificent tennis, and that’s why he jumped over Novak Djokovic to No.5 on the ATP rankings, starting this Monday. The win over Musetti was in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(4), with him edging out the Italian when needed the most.
The Aussie indicated his potential already last year, and to be honest, the way he plays now, we just might see him battling for this first Grand Slam title this season.
Ruud vs. Draper Head to Head
Believe it or not, these two guys have never met before, and this will be their first encounter.
Ruud vs. Draper Predictions
From our point of view, Ruud is excellent on clay; he is more experienced, but overall, Draper is a better player. He is better in every aspect of play, plus his form right now is stunning. That’s why we bet on Draper’s win.
