The controversial new-look mixed doubles competition at the US Open has attracted headlines already; some good, some not so good. However, it is clearly capturing the attention by having some of the world’s biggest stars take part.
All eyes were on Flushing Meadows on Tuesday evening, as the dream team of Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu had a swell of support against Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper.
However, it was to be the American and Brit that progressed through to the next round in dominant fashion, winning in straight sets. The shorter form of the game saw just six games played in each of the two sets, with Pegula and Draper progressing 4-2, 4-2.

The new-look format will see an interesting clash this Wednesday, as recently crowned Cincinnati Open champion Iga Swiatek joins forces with Casper Ruud against Pegula and Draper.
Swiatek and Ruud were equally as dominant in the opening rounds, progressing from the two previous rounds and dropping just six games. After seeing off the all-American team of Tiafoe and Keys in the round of 16, the new team stepped up their performance levels to overcome McNally and Musetti later in the day.
