Match Preview
Daniel Evans was confident against Jay Clarke, whom he beat in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, 6-2. Before the start of the match, Evans was a -500 favorite, and he fully justified that status. His first serve was low, only 56%, though he won 61% of points on second serve.
This was his third win in the past four appearances. He was better than Mionir Kecmanovic and Tommy Paul in Eastbourne, before losing to Jenson Brooksby in the quarterfinals there.
Novak did experience some trouble in the first round, dropping a set against the ATP No.41, Alexandre Muller, 3-1. After back-to-back losses to Sinner at Roland Garros and Khachaov in Hurlingham, this was a refreshment for the veteran.
Believe it or not, Djokovic totaled 21 aces and just one double fault. This is maybe his record when it comes to aces at Wimbledon, and if his serve works like this until the end of the tournament, he really has solid chances of winning.
Evans vs. Djokovic Head to Head
The two met in Monaco in 2021, when Evans won 2-0, 6-4, 7-5. That’s the only encounter between these two, so Evans has an edge over one of the all-time greats.
Evans vs. Djokovic Predictions
The home player will have a huge support, and given that Novak opens the tournaments a bit slower, we will take over 31.5 games.
