Match Preview
Ahead of Wimbledon, Cobolli had two wins and losses on the grass surface. The Italian elevated his game since coming to England, where he won four in a row, three opening matches without dropping a set. The only one he lost was against Marin Cilic in the Round of 16, 3-1.
He played three and a half hours against the Croat and saved 7 of 8 breakpoints, which is very good. Cobolli posted 45 winners and 47 unforced errors, having more composure than the veteran in the key moments of the event.
Novak lost the first set against De Minaur, flipping the score, though, not before delivering some drama. De Minaur led 4-1 in the final, fourth set, yet the Serb showed his fighting spirit coming back and knocking the Aussie out.
After the first few matches in which he had plenty of aces, this battle saw the 24-time Grand Slam winner posting only 6 of them, with 5 double faults. Though he allowed 19 break point chances, saving 13.
