Fight Preview

One of the most talented boxers on the planet will be back in action at the end of November, as David Benavidez defends the WBA Light Heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde.

The American has amassed a stunning record in the ring since turning pro, winning 30 of 30 fights. He also set the record to become the youngest super middleweight champion in history when winning his first world title aged 20.

A long-awaited showdown with Canelo Alvarez will have to wait, as he makes a mandatory defense of his gold in November. Benavidez was last in action at the start of February, as he claimed a workman-like unanimous decision victory against David Morrell.

Anthony Yarde has been a consistent player at the top table throughout his career, and his power should pose serious questions of the champion. The Brit has won 27 of his 30 professional fights, and he has previously challenged for the WBC, IBF, and WBO light-heavyweight titles.

Since falling short in that bout against Artur Beterbiev in January 2023, Yarde has worked his way back to the top of the division with a string of excellent performances. The latest of those saw him score a points win over Lyndon Arthur in April in London.

Anthony Yarde vs. David Benavidez Picks

Yarde will have nothing to lose in this showdown, as he is a massive outsider to claim victory. It is hard to see anything other than the champion making a successful title defense, as he has the ability to dictate fights and land punches at crucial times.
