Event Preview
Another thrilling season for F1 action gets underway in Australia, with an informative Australian Grand Prix set for the start of March. The biggest regulation changes in the modern history of the sport will create an unpredictable element to the opening race, while pre-season testing offered a few clues as to who could be the leading contenders.
There was a strong sense across the two-week testing period in Bahrain that Mercedes were holding back their true pace, while rival teams have already complained that the constructor has taken advantage of a loop-hole in the new regulations.
However, no changes to the rules will be made until at least the summer break, handing George Russell and Kimi Antonelli a potentially season-defining advantage in the first half of the year.
Red Bull also impressed during the pre-season testing, with Max Verstappen quickly getting to grips with his new car. However, Isack Hadjar has endured contrasting fortunes in the seemingly doomed second Red Bull seat.
McLaren, by their own admission, are further behind the top two contenders, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri likely not set to be competitive until a few rounds into the season.
Ferrari could be the standout team after taking a slightly different approach to the new regulations, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both setting quick times during the testing in Bahrain.
Australian Grand Prix Picks
There are always so many unknowns after sweeping regulatory changes, but something about the Ferraris caught the eye in Bahrain: they gained an incredible amount of distance on corners. Therefore, Charles Leclerc could be an interesting price to win the opening race of the season.
