Race Preview
The end of the European legs of the Formula 1 schedule ensures that the finishing line is in sight on the calendar this year. The latest round of action will see the F1 battle move to Asia, as an iconic street circuit will see drivers compete across 190 miles. A total of 51 laps of the track will be covered in Baku, with Sergio Perez and Red Bull holding the respective driver and team records.
The previous race on the schedule was all about the dominance of Max Verstappen, as the Dutchman was excellent at the Italian Grand Prix. Verstappen finished a staggering 19 seconds ahead of the McLaren duo, despite many believing that he was in an inferior car.

McLaren continue to make negative impressions when giving team orders, with Piastri forced to hand over second place to Norris, despite gaining the position due to a slow pit stop. The Australian wasn’t thrilled on the radio, and it may have been a different story if the points were for the lead of the race.
All of that means that Piastri continues to lead the way in the Championship battle, with his advantage cut to 31 points. It is also worth noting that Piastri remains a whole win clear of his teammate at this late stage of the campaign.
Ferrari enjoyed a positive home race at Monza, with Charles Leclerc taking fourth, and Lewis Hamilton gaining a respectable sixth place. George Russell separated the drivers in fifth, but no one could get near Verstappen in Italy.
Azerbaijan Grand Prix Picks
Verstappen showcased his excellence in Italy, and the Red Bull performance makes for an interesting narrative worth following in Baku. However, the McLarens have had the upper-hand on street circuits so far this season, and it could be worth chancing Norris cutting the advantage on his teammate.
