Match Preview
A busy weekend of Formula 1 action is set for Belgium this weekend, with the Grand Prix forming the main event on Sunday afternoon. However, the always-competitive Sprint format returns this weekend, and the shorter-formed version of the Grand Prix is set for Saturday morning, taking place just hours before qualifying.
This Saturday’s Sprint is the third of the season, following dramatic contests in China and Miami. Lewis Hamilton scored for the first time in a Ferrari in Asia earlier in the season, while Lando Norris landed success in the U.S.

Ferrari have performed consistently in the shorter Sprint races this season, with Hamilton taking third in Miami. This weekend, the constructor brings major upgrades to the track in the hope of reigniting their season. Hamilton has already spoken about the importance of the races in Belgium, and a major improvement in performance is expected.
However, McLaren continue to be the team to catch this season. Oscar Piastri holds a slender advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship, but teammate Lando Norris is just eight points adrift. Norris has landed wins in each of the last two races, but Piastri has finished off the podium in just one of the eleven races since the second round.
Questions surrounding Max Verstappen’s long-term future at Red Bull continue to make headlines. It will be a big weekend for Red Bull, as the team announced the departure of Christian Horner after 20 years during the break. Mercedes will be aiming for an improved performance in Belgium after picking up just a single point at the British Grand Prix in the previous round.
Belgian Grand Prix Sprint Race Picks
McLaren will be hard to oppose in both races this weekend, but a chance could be taken on Lewis Hamilton to continue his excellent record in Sprints. The British driver has finished first and third in the two shorter races this season, and his excellent record at the track in Belgium ensures that he could be set for a big weekend if the upgrades have an impact.
