Race Preview
This weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix marks the final race on the Formula 1 schedule before the summer break. Since 1986, the Hungaroring has hosted the event, with the race being staged on the outskirts of Budapest. Drivers will complete a total of 70 laps to make up the 306.630 km race distance.
A dramatic edition of the Belgian Grand Prix was staged last weekend, with adverse conditions seeing the race delayed by nearly two hours. The most crucial moment of the race came within the opening lap of the restart, as Oscar Piastri powered past teammate Lando Norris to take the lead.
Piastri showcased his championship credentials at Spa, holding off Norris to win by over three seconds despite running on a set of mediums for much of the race. Last weekend’s race also indicated why the Australian is the outright favorite to win the championship this year, as Norris arguably would have won the race if it hadn’t been for a number of costly errors when chasing his teammate.

Charles Leclerc finished third in Belgium, which highlighted a positive weekend for Ferrari. Leclerc held off Max Verstappen fairly easily for much of the race, keeping a safe two-second difference ahead of the Dutchman. Teammate Lewis Hamilton also recovered from 18th on the grid to finish an excellent seventh.
George Russell was left frustrated with the performance of his Mercedes, but a fifth-place finish was a respectable outcome. There were also important points for Williams, with Alex Albon holding off a charging Hamilton to take sixth. Liam Lawson, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Pierre Gasly all also achieved points finishes.
Hungarian Grand Prix Picks
Oscar Piastri dominated the Hungarian Grand Prix last year, and the Australian’s excellent form this season ensures that he is a strong chance to win the Drivers’ Championship. We could see him extending his advantage at the summit this weekend ahead of the summer break.
