Event Preview

One of the world’s most important motorsport races will be staged this weekend, as the Monaco Grand Prix will be held in the principality. The Monaco Grand Prix was first staged in 1929, and it forms part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport.

There was an emotional first win in the race for Charles Leclerc in 2024, becoming the first Monegasque driver to win the race since 1931. However, a repeat victory appears unlikely due to the struggles that Ferrari have endured throughout the 2025 season.

Overtaking is extremely difficult in the race, meaning that there will be extra attention on qualifying. McLaren has been the dominant team on Saturdays this season. However, Oscar Piastri failed to make pole position count in the latest race, as he was overtaken on the first lap by Max Verstappen on the first lap.

Despite being in an inferior car this season, Verstappen continues to hold a strong chance in the battle for the Drivers’ Championship. There will be extra pressure on Lando Norris this weekend, as he will need to start winning races if he is to put his teammate under pressure.

Mercedes were one of the most underwhelming teams in Italy last time out, as George Russell could finish only seventh. There could be a potential shock on the cards in Monaco, as Williams have been quietly going under the radar throughout this season, and a podium finish may not be impossible if they emulate their qualifying pace so far this season.

Monaco Grand Prix Picks

Piastri has been the eye-catching driver so far this season, and he could be set to make another bold showing in his race for a first Drivers’ Championship. We like his chances of winning the race, while a podium for Alex Albon could be an interesting outside selection.
