Event Preview
It is set to be an emotional weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this weekend, as the track, which has hosted the Grand Prix since 1991, will stage the race for the final time ahead of its relocation to Madrid in 2026. This weekend’s race could potentially be a pivotal one in the context of the season, as regulation changes surrounding the flexi-wing rules come into effect.
Many of the leading team principals have admitted that there is an unknown element when it comes to performance, with McLaren keen to continue their dominant start to the season.
Lando Norris enjoyed an excellent weekend last time out, as he claimed a first win at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Brit started on pole after breaking the lap record at the illustrious street circuit, and he eventually held off a surging Charles Leclerc to win by three seconds.

The win means that just three points separate Norris from his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. However, Piastri could yet recover this weekend, and he remains in excellent form after achieving podiums in each of the last seven races.
The main pressure will be on the chasing pack this weekend. Ferrari enjoyed a morale-boosting weekend in Monaco, with Charles Leclerc eventually finishing second. Lewis Hamilton also looked more comfortable, despite finishing a distance fifth.
Mercedes and Red Bull should both relish a return to a more conventional track. Max Verstappen remains a menacing presence in the championship battle, as he sits just 25 points off the top of the standings.
Spanish Grand Prix Picks
The change in regulations means that there could be value in the betting this weekend. Verstappen was at his dominant best on a conventional track at Imola, and he easily put a healthy amount of time between himself and the McLarens. At the prices, it could be worth siding with the Red Bull driver to upset the Piastri/Norris title fight in Barcelona.
