Event Preview
Action on the DP World Tour heats up this weekend, as the penultimate event on the schedule for 2024 takes place at Yas Links. The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship has been a lucrative event since its formation in 2006, with the field competing for their share of the $9 million purse.
When it was founded, it was one of three European Tour events to be held in the region. Players involved will compete over a total distance of 7,425 yards, with the par 72 course being a stroke play event. It has been contested at Yas Links since 2022.
Martin Kaymer holds the tournament record, finishing with an aggregate score of 264 and 24-under when landing victory in 2011. Victor Perez comes into the 2024 edition of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship as the defending champion.

Rory McIlroy is a red-hot favorite this weekend, despite coming up short on a number of occasions. The Northern Irishman has achieved seven top ten finishes in 2024, and will be looking for a third win of the calendar year this weekend.
However, the top of the betting is dominated by players that have claimed victories. Tyrrell Hatton enjoyed an excellent season on the LIV Golf schedule, and comes into the weekend as a recent champion after winning the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 2021.
Two-time winner Tommy Fleetwood also holds pressing claims after also finishing second in the event in 2020. Shane Lowry has enjoyed another steady season, and the 2019 winner could be a good value play at the prices available.
Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship Picks
No shortage of chances this weekend, but Robert MacIntyre could be an eye-catching play. He won the Scottish Open earlier this year, and has made the cut on his last eight appearances on the DP World Tour.
