Event Preview
One of the most significant early season events on the PGA Tour will be staged this weekend, as the Arnold Palmer Invitational takes place at Bay Hull Club and Lodge. This event has been staged annually since 1966, and it has been known under its current name since 2007. A massive expansion to the event was announced in 2014, with the winning player earning a three-year exemption to events such as the World Golf Championships and Memorial Tournament.
The tournament aggregate record was set by Payne Stewart, with the player finishing with a total of 264 when landing success in 1987. However, the par record was set earlier than that when Buddy Allin finished 23-under when landing success in 1973. The most recent winner of the event was Kurt Kitayama, who defied huge odds to claim victory in 2023.

Rory McIlroy heads the betting for the event this weekend, but the star will need a much better start after finishing outside of the top ten in the Cognizant Classic last weekend. However, the Northern Irishman does have an excellent record in this event, having landed victory in 2018, and was also the runner-up in 2023.
Scottie Scheffler is a deserving second favorite in the betting, as the 2022 champion looks for a second win in three years. Scheffler was last in action at the Genesis Open in mid-February, as he finished in a tie for tenth. An improved effort is likely this weekend, and it could be hard to write off his chances.
Arnold Palmer Invitational Prediction
Viktor Hovland is a player that we like this weekend. The European star has been in excellent form over the early weeks of the season, and he was a very close second in the Arnold Palmer back in 2022.
