Event Preview
The high-quality action on the DP World Tour draws to a close this weekend, as the DP World Tour Championship is staged in Abu Dhabi. This weekend’s event has been held annually since 2009, with the Race to Dubai forming an integral part of the inaugural edition.
The field will compete over a total distance of 7,675 yards at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, with players competing for their share of the $10 million purse. Henrik Stenson holds the record scores, finishing 25-under with an aggregate score of 263 in 2013.
Nicolai Hojgaard was the winner of the most recent edition of the DP World Tour Championship, but he is one of five former champions who won’t be involved this weekend. Therefore, the door could be open for Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy is already on course to win the Race to Dubai, as he holds a healthy advantage over the field based on his previous performances on the European Tour this season. He is also the only player in the field with winning experience over course and distance. This weekend, McIlroy will be chasing a third victory.
Tommy Fleetwood has come close in the DP World Tour Championship on two previous occasions. Most recently, he finished in a tie for second when finishing two shots off the lead in 2023. Fleetwood’s consistency ensures he is a major player this weekend.
Tyrrell Hatton has been one of the most eye-catching players on the LIV Golf schedule this season. The Englishman finished as the runner-up in the event for the second time last year, and once again holds strong claims to go better this weekend.
DP World Tour Championship Picks
The door looks wide open for McIlroy this weekend. The Northern Irishman has winning experience over the course compared to his rivals, and has been in excellent form throughout the season.
