Event Preview
This weekend’s PGA Tour action is set for Texas, as TPC Craig Ranch hosts The CJ Cup. The field will be competing across 7,569 yards for their share of the $10.3 million purse. Scottie Scheffler set the tournament record score 12 months ago, and the American will be heavily favored to retain his title in 2026.
Scheffler will be aiming to bounce back after ultimately finishing a disappointing T14 at the PGA Championship, but his consistency should still be acknowledged. The world number one has finished as the runner-up in three of the last four events on the PGA Tour.
Jordan Spieth is another player that is performing to a high standard at present. However, his wait for a Career Grand Slam will continue after finishing T18 at last week’s major. But, his record at TPC Craig Ranch ensures he holds leading claims this weekend after finishing in the top 20 on six occasions.
Brooks Koepka will also be expected to put a disappointing PGA Championship behind him. The American has finished consistently on his recent starts, finishing in the top six on five of his last six. Consistency has also been a key strength for Ryo Hisatsune, who can’t be dismissed. The Japanese star has finished in the top 15 on five of his last 13 starts.
The CJ Cup Picks
Scheffler could be opposable once again this weekend, and course specialist Si Woo Kim makes plenty of appeal. The South Korean was a close third in the event in 2023, and his form this season has been red-hot, suggesting that he is set to peak at the right time to land a big purse.
