Event Preview
For the first time since 2016, Oakmont Country Club will host the prestigious U.S. Open. The major is the most lucrative of the majors on the PGA Tour calendar, and there have been some exciting finishes to the event in each of the last four editions, with each renewal since 2021 being won by a single shot.
Scottie Scheffler will be a red-hot favorite for success this year, as he bids to add to the PGA Championship that he won last month. The top-ranked player in the world has also added to his momentum since that major success after landing the spoils at the recent Memorial Tournament.

However, Sheffler will be a short-priced favorite as he bids to win the U.S. Open for the first time. Therefore, there could be value in taking on the American. Bryson DeChambeau will be a popular alternative after winning two of the last five editions of the major.
Rory McIlroy is yet to return to form since winning The Masters, failing to make the cut at the Canadian Open last time out. Jon Rahm previously won the U.S. Open in 2021, and his performances throughout this season will make him an eye-catching selection at the odds available.
Xander Schauffele has an excellent record at the U.S. Open after finishing in the top 15 in each of the last eight editions. Shane Lowry is also a player who has threatened to win in recent weeks, and he was second on the previous occasion when Oakmont hosted the U.S. Open.
U.S. Open Picks
Sepp Straka could be an interesting outsider in the betting this week. The Austrian has made the cut in half of his four appearances at the U.S. Open, and he couldn’t be in better form this season.
Straka has already won the PGA Tour this season, and he comes into this weekend after finishing an excellent third at the Memorial Tournament at the start of the month.
