The Belmont Gold Cup Stakes has been staged annually since 2014, with the Grade Two being contested over two miles. The race offers a purse of $250,000 and it will be staged at Saratoga this year due to renovation work at Belmont Park.
Charlie Appleby has targeted some huge turf races already this year, and he holds very solid claims this week, as the Brit chases history. Siskany was a very impressive winner of the race last year, and the six-year-old makes his return to action after finishing a fine fourth in the G2 Dubai Gold Cup at the end of March.

However, The Grey Wizard could be a fascinating contender after finishing two lengths behind Siskany in this race 12 months ago. The Graham Motion runner is consistent over this longer trip, and there was plenty to like about his third in the G3 Louisville Stakes last month.
Costa Terra is one of two that will be hoping for some runners to drop out at Saratoga. The five-year-old for Linda Rice has some interesting form in the book, and could be a fascinating contender on his turf debut. Starting Oliver is another interesting runner on this step up in trip after finishing a neck ahead of Tawny Port in the G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes.

However, official rating show that there could be value in siding with Really Good. The four-year-old looks progressive, and was impressive on his return to action when finishing a close second behind Avenue over a mile and two.
