A thrilling edition of the Triple Crown in the U.S. will come to a close at Saratoga this weekend, as the Belmont Stakes headlines a high-quality card in New York. A field of ten runners will go to post in the new-look edition of the race, which will cover a total distance of 1 ¼ miles.
Previous Triple Crown winners Seize The Grey and Mystik Dan will be among the key contenders, with the former recently coming out on top in the Preakness Stakes. However, Mystik Dan should be well-rested following his second in the Preakness, which came just two weeks after his stunning drive in the Kentucky Derby.

But, there is an expectancy that the extended trip at Saratoga will favor Sierra Leone, who was a quick-finishing second behind Mystik Dan at Churchill Downs. The Chad Brown runner has been saved for this final leg of the Triple Crown, and it would be surprise to see him finish outside of the first three.
Honor Marie and Dornoch should both also be favored by this trip after underwhelming in the Derby. Antiquarian is one of the most fascinating runners in the race after landing the Peter Pan Stakes on his previous outing. That was the same prep race that was won by Arcangelo on his way to winning the Belmont Stakes in 2023.

Sierra Leone and Mystik Dan are both solid plays in exacta boxes this weekend. But, a wide draw may not be enough to stop the progression of Todd Pletcher’s Mindframe. The highly-regarded three-year-old steps into graded company for the first time on Saturday, but he has already posted some mighty speed ratings on his previous two starts on the track.
