Match Preview
The Grade One action continues at Saratoga before the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, as the G1 Manhattan Stakes will be run over 1 3/16 miles. This race has been run annually on the turf since 1867, with the contest this weekend being staged at Saratoga. Chad Brown boasts an excellent record in the Manhattan after landing eight wins since 2012.
The American trainer has a strong chance this weekend in the form of Program Trading. This runner has won three from four starts in stakes company, and battled well on his return to action at Churchill Downs to hold off Navan Power by a head to land the G1 Turf Classic Stakes.

Charlie Appleby sends two runners to Saratoga this weekend, including Nations Pride who was third on his return to action in the G2 Man O War Stakes. However, William Buick has opted to take the ride on Measured Time. The four-year-old was largely progressive in the Middle East over the winter, and was a fine fourth behind Facteur Cheval in the G1 Dubai Turf on his latest outing.
Iโm Very Busy has form to find on his stablemate Program Trading after fining only seventh in the G1 Turf Classic. But, he was incredibly progressive before that effort, which included a career-best run when winning the G2 Muniz Memorial Classic. Far Bridge could also play a part based on his best efforts, but he was beaten by Program Trading over a mile and furlong at Saratoga last year.
Manhattan Stakes Prediction
A very competitive look to the Manhattan is set for this weekend. However, a chance could be taken on Al Riffa for Joseph OโBrien. The four-year-old was a close second behind Arc winner Ace Impact on his final start last year, and likely needed the run when a close fourth on his return to action in the G1 Prix Ganay.

- Al Riffa
