Race Preview
The G3 Princess Rooney Invitational will be an important prep on the road to the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint in November. This weekend, the field will compete across seven furlongs on the dirt, with recent winners of the contest including Stormy Embarace and Ce Ce.
Saffie Joseph Jr has trained the last two winners of the race, and he will have a big crop of runners this weekend. Mystic Lake will likely be his leading chance, as the filly has won four times on the dirt. She was excellent last time when landing the Dashing Beauty Stakes, but despite a high speed figure, she will encounter a much deeper field this weekend.

Joseph will also saddle Haulin Ice this weekend. The four-year-old has been very consistent over six furlongs this season, which includes a win in the G3 Vagrancy Stakes last time. However, she was beaten 14 lengths by Mystic Lake over course and distance in January.
Vincey Girl will also rank among the top selections in the betting this weekend, but she will have a lot to find on Mystic Lake after finishing eight lengths behind her reappearing rival in the G2 Charles Town Oaks last year.
Princess Rooney Invitational Picks
Reputation could be an interesting angle after winning three from four starts this year. The three-year-old is the most progressive runner in this field for trainer Gustavo Delgado, and she was last seen winning on her first attempt in stakes company when landing the Tyson Gilpin at Colonial Downs in August.
