Race Preview
The final, and oldest, Classic of the British racing season is set for this Saturday at Doncaster, and a field of seven will go to post. Aidan O’Brien has dominated the last two editions of the race, but the Irish maestro will be without the services of Ryan Moore this weekend, which could cast doubt on his chances.
Lambourn appears to be the standout form pick after winning the Derby and Irish Derby in impressive fashion. Was underwhelming on his latest start on the Voltiguer, but he likely needed that run after a long layoff from the track. Plenty going in his favor, and has the strongest form in the race.

However, stablemate Scandinavia has dominated the betting in the lead up to the race, with many latching onto his progressive profile. Everything seems to indicate that he will excel over this marathon trip, including when landing the G1 Goodwood Cup by just under a length from Illinois.
Further is one of the shrewd selections in the race for many, with Oisin Murphy booked to take the ride on the Andrew Balding runner. Was second over a mile and six in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot, and was visually very dominant when landing success at Newbury in the Geoffrey Freer last time. Big chance on that form.
St Leger Stakes Picks
Due to O’Brien being without his stable jockey, it could be worth taking on the top two in the market. Carmers could be the progressive type that suits this challenge, having won the G2 Queen’s Vase over the Leger trip, before staying on eye-catchingly to take second in the Great Voltigeur. Everything suggests a big run is incoming.
