United Nations Stakes: Betting Preview
Eight runners will go to post for the standout race on Haskell Stakes afternoon at Monmouth Park on Saturday, with the United Nations Stakes being run over 1 3/8 miles. Chad Brown will be chasing a record sixth win in the race, and he could hold excellent claims.
The trainer saddles the experienced Program Trading in New Jersey this weekend. The six-year-old continued to perform at a high level despite his age last time out, winning the Monmouth Stakes by a comfortable two-length margin. Below Grade One level at this point in his career, but is still incredibly likable.
Echo Lane represents the Rohan Crichton yard this weekend. The five-year-old has been running in esteemed company throughout this season, twice finishing behind the talented Burnham Square in the G3 Louisville and Cherrywood. Drop back in distance is a positive.
Eldest Son, Telescopic, and Post Command are all likely to struggle in this grade against proven operators in stakes company. Uncle’s Gold has won on his last three starts, which includes a career-best effort to land the Turf Classic Stakes at Tampa in March. Could excel over further than this weekend’s distance.
Thundering rounds off the contenders for trainer Derek Ryan. The four-year-old still looks to be improving, and plenty of positives can be drawn from his recent win in the Turf Cup Stakes at Laurel. Another step up is required.
United Nations Stakes Picks
This looks like a perfect opportunity for Chad Brown to extend his excellent record in the United Nations. Program Trading is a proven performer in graded company, and he maintained his perfect record at Monmouth Park last time out with a straightforward win.
