Event Preview

The BMW Ladies Championship has been a prominent event on the LPGA Tour since its inception in 2019. Pine Beach Golf Links will see the field compete across 6,785 yards, with the stroke-play event being one of the few on the Tour that doesn’t have a cut, meaning that the entire field will play out the event in its entirety.

Kim Sei-Young was a dominant winner of the event 12 months ago, setting the tournament record score after setting off in a devastating fashion. The South Korean eventually finished 24-under, which makes her a leading chance on her return to Pine Beach. Confidence could be gained from her recent outings, taking a share of fourth at the FM Championship and T18 at the LPGA Shanghai.

Haeran Ryu is the obvious danger to the defending champion after enjoying a mesmerizing campaign on the LPGA Tour. The South Korean is yet to win the BMW Ladies Championship, but she has been excellent in winning the Women’s PGA Championship and Evian Championship since the start of June.

Kim Hyo-Joo may have missed the cut at the recent Lotte Championship, but the 31-year-old deserves to be among the leading contenders this weekend. She is a two-time winner on the LPGA of Korea Tour, winning the Ladies Championship in May and the Lotte Open in July. Lauren Coughlin and Lottie Woad are notable outsiders to consider, with the latter having made the cut in three of her last four appearances.

BMW Ladies Championship LPGA Tour Picks

From a value perspective, Haeran Ryu looks like a standout play this weekend. The South Korean has won two majors this season and has performed at a high standard throughout the campaign, making the cut in 14 of her 15 starts and achieving ten finishes inside the top ten.
