Event Preview
DP World Tour action is set for South Korea this week, as the Genesis Championship gets underway on Thursday. The event will be staged at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, which will see the field compete across 7,367 yards for their share of the $4 million purse. The par-71 event has been on the DP World Tour calendar since 2017.
Si Woo Kim will be hoping for a home victory this week, and plenty of positives can be taken from his recent form. In 2026, Kim has made the cut in all but one of his 24 appearances, achieving three runner-up finishes. His excellent form was on full display in the closing weeks of the PGA Tour season, finishing T14 at the TOUR Championship, and claiming a share of sixth at The Open.
Sungjae Im is a previous winner of the Genesis Championship, winning the 2019 edition, before losing a playoff in 2023. Im’s recent form is very strong, shooting 12-under when taking a share of ninth at the Baycurrent Classic last weekend.
Eugenio Chacarra and Daniel Hillier have also been regularly consistent on the DP World Tour throughout this season and should be respected. Meanwhile, Jacob Olesen will take confidence from his T20 finish at last weekend’s DP World India Championship. Hillier finished runner-up, and our selection Angel Hidalgo claimed a share of third.
Genesis Championship Picks
This weekend’s course could suit Japanese star, Kota Kaneko. The 24-year-old has been in reliable form throughout the season, taking a share of 30th at last weekend’s DP World India Championship. He has made the cut in three of his last four appearances, and confidence can be gained after making his breakthrough on the DP World Tour earlier this season after winning the Austrian Open.
