Event Preview
The second edition of the World India Championship headlines the golf action this weekend, and a high-quality field has been assembled to compete for the $4 million purse at Delhi Golf Club. Tommy Fleetwood won the inaugural edition of the DP World Tour event in 2025, and the Brit will once again rank among the leading contenders in 2026.
Fleetwood’s recent form will give him a strong chance this weekend, as he played his way back to the top of his game when finishing T4 at the recent Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. That was an excellent response after missing the cut at the BMW PGA Championship.
Rory McIlroy will be a red-hot favorite in the betting this weekend, finishing in the top 30 in the inaugural edition of the World India Championship 12 months ago. McIlroy has been in reliable recent form, including a T2 finish at the BMW PGA Championship.
Shane Lowry should be respected, as he set the 18-hole record at Delhi Golf Club 12 months ago. His consistent recent form on the DP World Tour includes a win at the Irish Open and a T13 finish at the Open de Espana.
A number of previous course winners should also be respected this weekend, including Shiv Kapur, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, and Khalin Joshi. Aaron Rai has been red-hot throughout the season and should also be considered, winning the PGA Championship before taking T2 at the BMW PGA.
World India Championship Picks
At a big price, Angel Hidalgo could be an interesting angle. The Spaniard ruined his chances at the recent Open de Espana, shooting four over in the opening five holes. However, his recovery was strong, eventually finishing 32nd overall. He has form at Delhi Golf Club in the book, finishing 10th and 17th on two of his previous three trips to the course. If picking up from where he left off last weekend, he is a fascinating contender at +12500.
