Fight Preview

The Sandman had a chance to take the UFC bantamweight. He would lose decisively to Merab at UFC 320 in October last year, where the champ dominated, taking down his rival 20+ times. Sandhagen previously defeated Deiveson Figueiredo but lost to Umar Nurmagomedov in August 2024.

We have to say that Sandhagan might be one of the most attractive fighters in the division, with his unorthodox striking skills and tremendously creative hits. However, his takedown defense against better wrestlers is terrible, as we saw in the past, particularly in his previous two defeats.

Bautista is on the rise. He did lose to Umar in October 2025 at UFC 321, but bounced back with a win over Vinicius Oliveira in the main event back in February 2026. This guy has a record of 17 wins and three defeats, though we need to add that previous “victims” weren’t some high-caliber names, with the veteran Jose Aldo being Bautista’s biggest triumph.

The 33-year-old American has solid boxing skills, providing good output, but he mixes it well with wrestling. So far, 7 of his triumphs have been via submission, and the ability to shift from boxing and standup to takedown in no time is something that makes Bautista a potential title contender.

Sandhagen vs. Bautista Predictions

Solely because of his diversity and the ability to take the fight to the ground, Bautista looks like a better choice here. Somehow, Sandhagen’s takedown defense no longer convinces us it can be trusted.
