UFC Vegas 90: Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis 2 Prediction, Odds, and Picks (Apr 6)

By · Updated 2 weeks ago
  • Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis 2 will headline UFC Vegas 90.
  • In their first fight, underdog Curtis won by TKO.
  • Allen is 6-0 since losing to Curtis.

UFC Vegas 90 (a.k.a. UFC Fight Night 240 or UFC on ESPN+ 98) is headlined by Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis 2. Originally, Allen was supposed to fight Marvin Vettori, but the Italian pulled out of the fight due to an injury.

Custis stepped in to save the day, with only a few weeks to prepare for the fight. This explains why the UFC Vegas 90 odds are not in his favor. However, the same was the case in the first Allen vs. Curtis fight, in which the +275 underdog ended up winning by a TKO in Round 2. Will history repeat itself on April 6 or will we see Allen exact his revenge?

Fight Preview

Brendan Allen (23-5) has come a long way since losing to Chris Curtis (31-10-1) in December 2021. In fact, he’s 6-0 since with five of those wins happening by submission. For three of those, he won the Performance of the Night bonus.

Allen was preparing to fight Marvin Vettori in the UFC Vegas 90 main event, who’s not too dissimilar to Curtis. They both land a lot of strikes and are not afraid to get hit.

Unlike Vettori, however, Curtis doesn’t like to be on the floor. He’s never tried to make a takedown in his nine UFC fights. Plus, he’s very good at defending against takedowns. Nassourdine Imavov is the only fighter who managed to take him down in the UFC.

Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis Prediction

Brendan Allen is a submission expert, but he doesn’t do great in striking matches. That said, the most obvious road to victory for him is to take Curtis down and finish him on the floor.

So, can he do it? In normal circumstances, we’d say no, but Curtis is stepping in on short notice, so he might not be at his best on April 6.
