Paul vs Doumbe Prediction and Picks
For the first time in just over a year, Jake Paul is back in a boxing ring. On Christmas Eve, he takes on Cedric Doumbe in an eight-round sanctioned bout at cruiserweight.
Paul has made no secret of how badly he wanted to get back in there after his sixth-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua. That fight left him with a broken jaw, and it answered the big question about whether he could live with the elite heavyweights. He couldn’t.
That loss put the rest of his record in context. Paul has built a successful career against faded former champions and fighters from outside boxing, with his biggest wins coming against a 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November 2024 and a 39-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June 2025.
Doumbe deserves respect. He’s a two-time Glory welterweight kickboxing champion and has won six of his seven MMA fights. But like Paul’s MMA opponents Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz, Doumbe has hardly boxed. He has one pro boxing fight on his record, a win over Mohamed Fodil back in April 2015.
The biggest factor here is size. Doumbe has spent his career at welterweight, and now he’s stepping up to cruiserweight against a naturally bigger man, giving up around five inches in height and three inches in reach. Doumbe will be looking for the knockout in the biggest fight of his career, and Paul’s chin will be tested after what happened against Joshua. But Paul’s size and boxing experience should be the difference, and we expect him to win this on the cards.
How We’re Betting Paul vs Doumbe
At -450, Paul is our best bet on the odds available right now. That’s $450 to win $100, though, so it works better as a parlay leg than as a straight bet.
The better value is likely to come once the props are posted. With Doumbe new to boxing and Paul likely to use his size to keep things safe, we like the fight going the distance, and Paul by decision should pay a lot more than the moneyline. We’ll update this page with those prices and our final pick as soon as BetOnline posts them.
