Event Preview

A compelling start to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2026 continues this weekend, as Martinsville Speedway hosts the Cook Out 400. This race will cover 210.4 miles, which is made up of 400 laps. Unlike other races on the schedule, the winning driver is awarded with a grandfather clock.

There is no doubt that the obvious starting point this weekend is Tyler Reddick. Reddick made history by winning each of the opening three races at the start of the season, and he once again dominated the field last weekend to land the Goodyear 400.

Ryan Blaney is the closest challenger in the early stages of the Drivers’ Championship, winning the Straight Talk Wireless 500 a couple of weeks ago. Last weekend, he finished third in the Goodyear 400.

Bubba Wallace has been among the most consistent drivers at this early stage. Wallace has finished in the top ten in four of the six races, but a response will be expected after finishing 34th last time out.

Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott have also made strong starts to the 2026 season. The latter finished 15th in last weekend’s race, but has already achieved two top-five finishes in 2026.

Cook Out 400 Picks

Christopher Bell could be the interesting play this weekend. Bell took second in this race 12 months ago, and he has already finished in the top five in three of the last four races.
