Race Preview
The second race in the round of 16 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs is set for Illinois this weekend, as the Enjoy Illinois 300 is staged. This weekend, the field will compete across a total of 300 miles, with a total of 240 laps covered. The opening stage will see 45 laps completed, before 95 and 100 laps are completed in the remaining two stages.
Chase Briscoe seized control of top spot in the Drivers’ Championship after winning the Cook Out Southern 500. The victory gives him a slender advantage over the chasing pack at a crucial stage of the campaign, and his momentum was excellent toward the end of the regular season after finishing second in three of the last seven races.

Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick both enjoyed top-ten finishes last weekend, with the former finishing seventh. There will be increased pressure on Chase Elliott this weekend, as he has quickly faded in the championship battle. His frustrations were clear last weekend after finishing 17th.
Kyle Larson will also have pressure on his shoulders this weekend. Larson has dropped to third in the standings after finishing 19th in the race. However, he had previously finished sixth in each of the final two races of the regular season.
