There will be a slight break in the points-scoring races on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule this weekend, as the All-Star Race is set to take place at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Despite having no points up for grabs, this weekend’s race should still be a competitive affair, and plenty of drivers will be hopeful of claiming the prestigious win.

Event Preview

The NASCAR all-star weekend is set for this Sunday at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The All-Star Race forms the main event of the weekend at the track, and it has been contested at the North Carolina circuit since 2023. This race has been a key date on the NASCAR schedule since 1985, with the field competing over a total of 250 laps to make up the 201.168 km race distance.

Jimmie Johnson is the most successful driver in the history of the race, having claimed four victories. Meanwhile, Hendrick Motorsports and Chevrolet are the leading team and manufacturer, respectively.

History could be made this weekend, as Kyle Larson could equal the all-time win record of Johnson. The American has been in excellent form throughout this season, winning three races already in 2025. Larson’s consistency has also taken him to the top of the Drivers’ Championship after finishing in the top five in each of the last four races.

William Byron started the season in excellent form after winning the Daytona 500. However, his advantage at the summit has diminished after finishing outside of the last ten in each of the last two races. Christopher Bell could yet be a major player this weekend after finishing in the top three in six of this season’s 12 races.
