Race Preview

The final race of the In-Season Challenge is set for this Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Brickyard 400 also forms one of the Crown Jewel races on the NASCAR schedule, following the Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600. This weekend’s race has been a regular stop on the calendar since 1994, with the field completing a total of 400 laps. Each of the opening two stages consists of 50 laps, before the final 60 laps make up the final stage.

There is a different look to the Championship standings at this stage of the season, with Chase Elliott moving to the summit after taking top six finishes in five of the last six races. Elliott’s hot form continued last weekend after he took sixth in the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400.

William Byron has been the big loser during the In-Season Challenge, as the former Drivers’ Championship leader now sits second in the standings after finishing outside of the top 20 in four of the last five races. A return to form will desperately be required in Indiana this weekend.

Kyle Larson enjoyed a welcome return to form last weekend after finishing fourth, while Denny Hamlin may be the in-form driver after winning last time out. Hamlin now sits fourth in the standings, but he has finished in the top five in three of the last five events.

Brickyard 400 Picks

There is a very competitive feel to the Brickyard 400 this weekend, and a number of drivers have leading claims. However, the in-form Tyler Reddick could be an interesting betting angle based on the odds available. Reddick is yet to win this season, but he has finished in the first three on three occasions. His consistency and knowledge of the track could be crucial this weekend.
