Event Preview
The competitive action on the new-look NASCAR Cup Series schedule continues this weekend, as the In-Season Challenge continues on the streets of Chicago. The Grant Park 165 is one of the newest races on the calendar, as it was only held for the first time in 2023. In doing so, it became the first street race in Cup Series history.
The field will cover the race distance of 165 miles by covering a total of 75 laps. Drivers will complete 20 and 25 laps in the first two stages, respectively, before the final stage sees the remaining 30 laps completed. Alex Bowman is the reigning champion after winning the Grant Park 165 in 2024.

There was a welcome return to form for Chase Elliott last weekend, as the American came out on top in the Quaker State 400. It was a notable result in the context of the Drivers’ Championship, as Elliott now sits within striking distance of William Byron after claiming three top five finishes in succession.
Kyle Larson dropped down a place last weekend after finishing only 17th. In fact, it was a weekend to forget for many of the leading contenders in the standings, with Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Ryan Blaney all also finishing outside of the top 20 places.
Grant Park 165 Picks
Street circuits require a completely different skill level than the traditional circuits found in NASCAR. Therefore, a chance could be taken on first-time winner Shane Van Gisbergen to repeat the win that he recorded on the streets of Chicago in 2023.
