Event Preview

The NASCAR Cup Series action continues on March 15, with the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It has been a thrilling start to the new Cup Series season, and this weekend’s race only threatens to add higher stakes to the race at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.

This weekend’s race is one of two staged annually in Las Vegas and has been held since 1998. The field will complete a total of 400.5 miles, consisting of 267 laps. Jimmie Johnson holds the record for most race wins (4), while Hendrick Motorsports is the most dominant team (9).

Josh Berry was a shock winner of the race last weekend. However, a repeat success looks extremely unlikely after finishing outside of the top-ten in his last two starts. Although fans of the underdog could consider his ninth-place finish in the Daytona 500 a reason to keep the faith.

Tyler Reddick has already made Cup Series history this year after winning three successive races. His dominance deserves respect ahead of the race in Las Vegas, but he has never won the Pennzoil 400. Kyle Larson has endured a slow start to the season, but he could be an outstanding chance at a track he likes, winning two editions of the race since 2021.

Pennzoil 400 Picks

Joey Logano could be an interesting angle this weekend. The Team Penske driver is a two-time winner of the Pennzoil 400. Confidence can also be drawn from his form at the start of the season, finishing third in the Daytona 500 and 15th in the Texas Grand Prix.
